Jennifer A. Thompson is a shareholder with Hammargren & Meyer, P.A.  Her practice is largely devoted to the representation of homeowners and homeowner associations in all aspects of the residential construction process – from contract formation to post-performance claims and litigation.  She also assists homeowner associations with their general business matters.  Jennifer also has experience representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, and sureties in the commercial construction arena.  In January 2011, Jennifer was appointed by Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak as an attorney Commissioner on the Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission.  In 2012, she is serving a term as the Vice Chair of the Commission.  She also sits on the Commission’s Contract Compliance Committee, whose focus is to review and evaluate reports from the Department’s Contract Compliance Unit on, among other things, affirmative action goals for construction contracting and procurement.  Jennifer is formerly the Director of Membership for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).  She is also a member of the Association of Women Contractors and a council member of the Construction Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association.

Jennifer received her law degree from Hamline University and a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota.  Between 2007 and 2011, Jennifer has been annually recognized on the Minnesota Rising Stars® list.  She regularly presents continuing education courses and seminars on a variety of topics, ranging from mechanic’s lien law, to construction contracts, to residential real estate disclosure requirements.  Jennifer has also served as a mentor to law students through the University of St. Thomas School of Law’s mentor program since 2006.  In 2010, Jennifer was a selected participant for the inaugural year of the MWL Leadership Project: A Core Development Program for Women Attorneys.
